Class Experience

Hello, Everyone! This is Miss Feifei. My students call me 菲菲老师 Feifei Laoshi. I came from Beijing, China, Mandarin is my mother language. I moved to the United States 9 years ago, and now I am a certificated Oregon State preschool teacher. With a bachelor of music production, I am also a private Mandarin-English bi-language piano teacher.

Welcome to my Mandarin Sing-along Cycle Time. This one-time cycle time is a good fit for:
1. Young Chinese-Mandarin learners who take regular Mandarin lessons but want to sing and play and practice their language skills.
2. Young native Chinese-Mandarin speakers who want to come to correct their tones, learn more songs, and have a social time.
3. Young learners who are considering learning Mandarin as 2nd language.

In this Chinese Mandarin immersion cycle time, I will strum my Ukulele, play my keyboard, show my students some other funny instruments: for example," Tounge drum" or "Desk bell set." I will lead them to READ the lyrics and SING Chinese rhyme songs.

For example, we will learn how to greeting in Chinese by singing the "Hello song 你好歌." We will learn how to say animals names by singing " Mary had a little lamb 玛丽有只小羊羔" and " Old Macdonald had a farm 王老先生有块田。" We will learn how to count from 1-10 by singing the "number song 数字歌." We will learn colors, shapes, feelings, weather, etc., by singing some other Chinese rhyme songs.

There will also be a lot of interactive time in this class, for example. I will invite my students to help me choose which animal should be sung in the songs, what color of stars we should hang upon the sky; I will ask them to share their favorite foods, transportations. They will also be invited to follow me to do some silly giggles, etc.

We will also sing the ”Happy birthday song 生日歌” if a learner's birthday is coming. Also, some festival songs to celebrate holidays.

Even though this is a one-time lesson, you are welcome to come to meet me every week.

Join my class! Let's sing and play and learn!

A little bit more about the lessons:
1. I will mute all the students when I am singing or playing instruments to make sure everyone can hear me clearly.
2. I will ask students to unmute themselves during the interactive time. The simplest way is to PRESS DOWN and HOLD the SPACE button and then talk. It is worth letting the young students learn this trick before the lesson starts.
3. I will mute the student if there is a background noise that might disturb the others.
4. Caregivers are always welcome to join the lesson.
5. The best place to attend this lesson is your kid's playroom or living room. Students are welcome to bring their stuffies, toys, instruments, scarves, puppets, etc. I will engage them to show their stuff and teach them how to say those stuff in Mandarin.

Hi, This is Miss Xiang. My students like to call me Miss Feifei or 菲菲老师 Feifei Laoshi.

I was born in China, and Chinese Mandarin is my mother language. I lived in Beijing for my college and worked for more than 10 years before moving to the USA. Now I am an Oregon State-certified preschool teacher. I also run my own K-5 grade Mandarin afterschool program.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Production and enjoy bringing music into my classroom. During my outschool "Sing along Mandarin cycle time," I will strum my Ukulele, play my keyboard, press my desk bells set, and sing Chinese songs with my students. I will guide my students to find the rhythm and tone of Mandarin through the music's rhythm.

I am also fostering rats for our local small animal rescues. So in my "come talk and play with rat" lesson, I will introduce fancy rats(pet rats) to our students, we will learn Mandarin through this incredible creature, and I will show live rats (sometimes even newborn rats) to my students.

I have 3 boys. They are 3,6,8 years old now. I know how important to provide engaging learning environments for young learners. My tutoring style is high-energy, fun, casual, patient, and peer-like.

Besides my work, I like hiking with my family and friends. I like to go camping and sleep in my 1950s airstream.

I'd like to share many songs, stories, and ideas with my students, So please follow me on outschool. And I hope to see the kids in my lessons soon!
Love,
Miss Feifei
