Assessment is informal - based on the finished product and improved skill. Students are welcome to post their work.Class Experience
The subject being taught is basic drawing using a 2B grade pencil along with colored pencil if desired. Each student will have the opportunity to choose their subject from a photo or other source material. Skills pertaining to shading and blending for either medium is taught, with suggestions for tools used to attain maximum results. Subjects may include: pets, favorite animals, cartoon characters, a family member, or even a self- portrait. I request that students have a photo, a printed picture or an image available on a device before class begins, as well as to send me the image via email using the teacher tab on the learner page. It will be used as a constant reference during instruction. My gallery of drawings are also provided as options. During the course of class, I will work with each student step by step, using an overhead camera and share screen, including suggestions for improvement. My drawings are visible the entire time. My teaching style is sequential, so I will not proceed to the next step until the previous one is completed and evaluated. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and receive guidance as needed or when requested. Drawings are usually completed within 2-3 classes, depending on the details a student would like to include. Since each student will be working on a different drawing and will have varying degrees of skill, the length of time toward completion will also vary. This enables the opportunity to enroll or stop their subscription at any time. Being that each student can choose the image they would like to create, there is no weekly theme or topic. Interaction with myself and other students is allowed throughout the lesson, however, focus should be maintained. Students are also welcome to share tips and to be helpful to each other. All they need to bring to class are their materials, abilities, and of course, an eagerness to learn! They are encouraged to offer suggestions to me regarding what they would like to draw during the next class, should they stay enrolled. Neurodiverse students are welcome! I am fully aware of the positive emotional effects the creative arts have on the cognitive and behaviorally challenged. Thus, I ensure the nature of the class accommodates the specific needs of all students. In addition, I believe having the option to choose contributes toward inspiration, enthusiasm, and motivation regarding their entire class experience.
Learning Goals
Depending on age and ability, students will learn about shapes and lines that comprise the subject, and how these will serve as a guide toward completion.
Shading and blending is taught using both mediums

Prior to retiring from working in special education, I applied my skills in the form of art therapy for behaviorally challenged children in the classroom setting.
