What's included
Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
**Please note that there are no live classes for this FLEX course. All classes are pre-recorded so you can view at whatever time works in your schedule. Each day of December 1st through 24th a video will be posted with a new chess surprise activity. Some days will have printables, some will have online interactive activities, others might have a challenge or puzzle to do with a chess set at home, or a combination of these three. This FLEX course is perfect for beginner to intermediate chess players that want to learn a little more, practice some skills, and just have fun with the game of chess. To clarify: There will be 24 activities posted; one every day; from the 1st through the 24th of December. The things we'll get to learn about are: -The history of chess and its pieces, some famous players, skills of fluency in using pieces, and strategy The activities we'll be doing are: -Mazes (on the board, not a normal maze), coloring/design pages, fun mini-games to play with family members, adding to class photo gallery, scavenger hunt As we go along, everyone is encouraged to share their work, art, and experiences with each other. This makes the experience rich with feedback from peers! While this class does count the first 24 days of December and is seasonal in nature, it still remains secular and the main focus is always on chess. It is very important to me that everyone from every background feels welcome and included.

Hi everyone! I have a passion for learning and teaching that I can't wait to share with you! I am a certified K-8 teacher with a degree from ASU and experience teaching and tutoring preschool-sixth grade. My specialties are math and reading interventions. I also love playing chess, and started a chess club in the last school I worked in. I have so much fun sharing these same methods with my Outschool students. My philosophy is that learning should be FUN! I want my students to have as much enthusiasm as I do about what I'm teaching. Something interesting about me is that I play (and have taught) violin, and I am a big F1 Racing fan!
