Class Experience

This is an ongoing course. An effort will be made to keep weekly lessons scheduled at the same or similar times. Flexible scheduling can also be arranged on a week-by-week basis. Please let me know if you are interested in a more flexible weekly schedule.

These will be live one-on-one lessons which focus on the goals of the learner. My style of teaching is student centered which means I focus on the individual student's needs while giving him/her/them the chance to self discover the answers to questions. This allows more opportunities for learners to feel empowered and confident in their own learning.

The first lesson will focus on creating a positive teacher-student relationship and establishing the student's goals. We will take a few moments to briefly check-in and reevaluate our goals at the beginning of every lesson before getting right to the task picked by the learner. My teaching style will require both myself and the student to constantly self-evaluate to help come up with the most effective practice strategies for each unique learner.

Guitarist of all skill levels are welcome.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to use metacognition (thinking about one's thinking) to develop their guitar skills.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
If the student's goal consists of learning a song containing sensitive lyrics, I will communicate this to the parent and seek permission to continue before moving forward with that goal.
Supply List
The learner will need a guitar (acoustic, classical, or electric) and should have regular access to it between lessons. If the student's goals or plan consist of recording, they will need a device or other software to record. I suggest using whatever recording software is already available on any device from home such as GarageBand or Voice Memos. Another great option is using the free web-based recording software found at Soundtrap.com. These details can be discussed during or after the first lesson.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

The guitar is my primary instrument and the one I love the most. I taught guitar for three years while I was a middle school music teacher and I also taught privately during that time. I have had success teaching for various instruments with various skill levels from beginner to advanced.
