We will address the art techniques using line, shape, pattern, space, proportion, mark-making, and perspective. Lauren will host demonstrations in each session and students will be able to create their own works of art using the skills they learn. I've been teaching grades K-12 for over a decade and have used this curriculum with upper elementary, middle school and high school students. This curriculum has been used and modified over the years so that it will set students up with the tools they need to be successful in creating their own works of art. In addition to teaching art, I am a professional painter and I use these same tools to create my art. My approach to teaching is hands-on, exploratory, and creative. I like to begin by demonstrating the basic skills, having students demonstrate the basic skills, and then allowing them to apply those skills to a creative project. I meet students where they're at and my goal is to grow their skills and their confidence so they feel empowered to tackle their own projects outside of class.

Students will be looking at the work of various artists and listening to age-appropriate music clips for some activities. I screen each piece of music before using it.

My passion has always been visual arts. I think that art-making and creating is part of the human experience. Creation comes in many forms, and I believe all are equally important. All students deserve to be treated as human beings capable of...
