Class Experience

This course is meant to follow “Let’s Make Music - Piano Lessons For Beginners”. We will build on the knowledge learned in the first class. Over the course of this 4 week period the students will learn and build upon their skills at their own pace. In this course students will get more familiar with reading sheet music, begin to learn to coordinate their hands to take turns playing, and continue to build their theory vocabulary and skills.
I ask my students to commit to practicing the songs given at least 3 times everyday. Each student must have a piano or keyboard to make this class worthwhile.
The student will need the attached songs printed before the lessons.
This plan is subject to change, but here is a brief overview of what I plan to teach each week.

Week One -
Students will learn more about how notes move on the staff.
Learn how to move on the keyboard how the notes move on the staff - "Snakes". "Canon"
Review what was previously taught.

Week Two -
Review previous songs
Learn to play the song "Jingle Bells"
Get more comfortable moving with the left hand.

Week Three -
Learn the song "Sharks"
Learn about putting expression into music
Working on note recognition

Week Four -
Learn the song "Fuzzy Wuzzy"
Learn about quarter rests

*please be on time as I lock the class at 10 mins after start time as per Outschool policy.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm so happy you stopped by my profile! I am currently a homeschooling mom, and have been a music teacher for half my life (16 years - you do the math;).

Music has the ability to strengthen the connection beween the body and the brain to help them work together as a team, which is why I incorporate music into a lot of my classes.
The more pathways a student uses for learning something new, the more pathways they have for retrieval of the information. Because of this, I utilize multisensory techniques.

My teaching style is "I tell you, you tell me, you show me".
As per one of my favorite quotes - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."

I offer piano lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My classes are thorough and time efficient, but I also work at the students pace to be sure they are grasping the concepts as we move along.
