Welcome to the 1st Grade Writing Course! This class follows the 1st Grade Writing Common Core standards. It's perfect for 6 and 7 year old students, and even younger ones who can write simple sentences. Older students can also join to review and strengthen their writing skills. In each class, we'll have a short lesson focusing on a specific skill, like punctuation or telling a story in order. We'll practice together as a group and then you'll get prompts to practice independently. I'll be there to help you every step of the way. At the end, we'll share our work and what we've learned. You can join the class at any time because each lesson focuses on a specific skill. We'll cover all the skills every 3-4 months. If you need extra help or practice with any skill, I'll be here to guide you individually. Get ready to have fun and become a great writer!

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to get to know me! My name is Aroa and I am passionate about learning. There's few things in life that get me as excited as learning more about a topic I find interesting, and sharing what I learned with others.
I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education majoring in Elementary School Education and in English as a Foreign Language. I am a licensed K-12 teacher.
I have been teaching for more than 15 years now. I was an Elementary School teacher in North Carolina for 5 years. Then I started teaching online, which I have been doing for over 10 years now.
Teaching students with limited English proficiency has taught me how to explain things in a way that is simple and easy to understand. I believe that every student can benefit from that kind of instruction. I also believe that the student should be the center of the learning process. I like helping my students take control of the learning process, setting small, clear goals in front of them, helping them achieve them and then celebrating their success with them.
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and my dog Pancake. I love learning new things, especially related to technology and languages. I am also a very creative person that loves writing and graphic design.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better! I hope to see you soon in my classroom!
