US Grade 1
In this ongoing class, students will enjoy learning 1st-grade math skills. Some of the skills we will work on are word problems, adding and subtraction, skip counting, place value and other 1st-grade math skills. Through each positive and interactive lesson, students will become more confident learners. This class is also great for kindergartners who need a challenge or 2nd graders who need to review 1st-grade skills. The class will start with addition and subtraction facts as a warm up activity then the students will learn or review the topic through an interactive lesson with the teacher. Students will finish by practicing different problems independently and with the class. To practice the addition and subtraction facts I will use a site called Quizlet.com. I will share my screen and student so there will not be a need for students to have a login or access code. I can provide a link (no signup required) to the flashcards so that students can practice their facts on their own. Mississippi Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hey there! I'm excited to share that I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and spent a wonderful 10 years teaching in a public school. I had the pleasure of teaching 6th grade for 5 years and then taught in a 3rd grade classroom for the last 5 years. In my classes, I used small groups and tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of my students.
I'm really passionate about encouraging reading for fun and for learning. I truly believe that when students have a solid foundation in reading, learning becomes a whole lot easier. And you know what? Math has now become my new favorite subject to teach! I love coming up with different ways to help struggling learners and to challenge those who are stronger in math. I firmly believe that by making math and reading enjoyable, we can inspire a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
On top of that, I'm also incredibly fortunate to be able to stay at home with my amazing 5-year-old triplets every day. They are an absolute joy!
