Teacher expertise and credentials
I focus on Spanish Literacy for students in Immersion and Dual Language Programs, basically, all things related to reading and writing. I specialize in targeted tutoring for struggling, underperforming, and at-risk students in the early grades (k-3) who need to catch up in reading, writing, fluency, and comprehension. My style is relaxed, but very academic.
I've been a teacher since 2000 and a private tutor since 2014. I have a Licentiate in Elementary Education from Escuela Normal "Fronteriza" and a Master's Degree in Docent Development from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional in Baja California, México.
I was born and raised in Mexicali. I was a first grade elementary school teacher for 6 years before moving to the United States in 2006. Spanish is my first language and I love sharing it with others!
I have 3 children in a Spanish Immersion program: a 9th grader starting high school in the fall, an incoming 7th grade middle schooler, and one still in elementary in 5th grade. 3 kids in 3 schools! I spend my days tutoring while my pug Paco keeps me company. He naps and snores by my side. When I'm not tutoring, I like to garden or go to Disneyland. We live close to the parks in California, so we visit as often as we can. Pugs and Disney, that's me!
