Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Learners will improve their reading skills with phonics, reading strategies, sight words, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and grammar.
I will be utilizing my experience as well of teaching for ten years to help guide the instruction and methods in this course. Guided Reading is my speciality and I have developed some wonderful skills to help learners grow as readers and learners.
There will not be any homework given for this course. However, I will list additional resources on the class page such as flash cards, extra worksheets and activities, etc for learners to complete. Learners will also be able to build up their own library during this class with the books that we read.
Each week supplies will be posted on the class page Sunday afternoons EST. Please print all materials before class. Weekly supplies: -paper book to print (please cut and assemble before class. Just cut the pages in half and put them in numerical order. You can choose to staple them or not. To get the full benefit from this class please have book available. We will be writing inside the books). -worksheets -writing utensils (paper, eraser, pens, etc) -colored writing materials (colored pencils, markers, crayons) During some weeks learners may need additional materials but these materials should be items that you can find easily around your home.
For learners that come back week to week, I will give a progress repont at the end of the month. If you can only come for one or two sessions and would like a progress report please let me know before class begins.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please be near by if learners need additional technology help during class off screen. Some weeks we may need scissors, glue, etc depending on our activities so please supervise your learner as needed. Technology Use: During class we may use games such as kahoot or abcya. If we use kahoot, learners can either split screen or I can read out loud what the questions are so the learners can answer.
We will be using various worksheets that are teacher created as well as books from readinga-z, which is a researched based guided reading program. Learners do not need an account. I will be utilizing my experience as well of teaching for ten years to help guide the instruction and methods in this course.
