1 hour per week. Students will be assigned various activities and assignments throughout the course. These assignments will include online simulations, presentations, worksheets and projects.Class Experience
US Grade 1
This course will cover the 1st Grade NGSS Science Standards in a hands-on and engaging way! Seed and Stem Learning Center believes that students learn science best through exploration, group work, and hands-on activities. Real-world problems, situations, and problem-based learning will drive student inquiry throughout this course. Students will have multiple opportunities to interact with other students and their instructors throughout this course in order to get the most out of their online experience. Students will meet for a live meeting twice a week for instruction, demonstrations, group work, and experiments. The rest of the week will provide students the opportunity to complete projects and homework. Students will receive a homework packet every week. This packet will have multiple activities and assignments to choose from including reading comprehension passages, videos, and corresponding questions, at-home labs and experiments, and traditional worksheets. Students can complete one option a week or choose to complete additional assignments. Due to the fact that this is an ongoing course, students can subscribe or unsubscribe at any time. Topics are separate from one another and do not require prior knowledge. Unit 1: Space September 4: What is Science? September 11: Introduction to Sun and Space September 18: The Earth and the Sun September 25: Stars October 2: Stargazing and Constellations October 9: The Moon October 16: Astronauts October 23: The Solar System-Planets and Stars October 30: Inner and Outer Planets November 6: Space Project Students who are already taking 1st grade Science can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll in a complete Science curriculum. Students will meet twice a week for a live lesson. After these lessons, students will be given several options to complete for homework for the week including worksheets, labs, and projects.

Welcome to Seed and Stem Learning Center by Bailey Nelson and Kenneth Kirk!
As a prior public school teacher, Bailey experienced the positive difference that scientific inquiry can have on students. Kenneth, who received his Bachelor's of Business Degree in Economics, found a passion in educating young students the improtance of financial literacy and business education. Bailey and Ken used this inspiration to create a program that allows students to connect across the globe through quality and inclusive education.
Although students take classes virtually, they will be inspired through hands-on and real-world applications and problems. Through our engaging courses, students will develop (or enhance) their love of all subjects by connecting to real-life applications and problems.
Teachers and tutors are all vetted through a rigorous process that focuses on scientific inquiry, problem-based learning, and hands-on pedagogy. Teachers come from a variety of backgrounds including education, economics, engineering, and computer science.
Course Policies:
*Students must provide a camera check at the beginning of class to ensure safety for all learners unless verified by Outschool.
*Ongoing classes are charged on a weekly basis. Prorated refunds based on days attended during the week will not be provided. All class recordings and materials are provided if your learner misses class.
*The Outschool classroom is for learner communication. If you would like to contact the teacher of your learner, please use the teacher communication tab.
