Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Geography and PE
We will learn about geography through animals and then have a dance party to move our bodies.
Lesson 2
English
We will learn about beginning sounds in words.
Lesson 3
SEL/Art and Writing
We will create emotion puppets and use them when reciting a poem. Then we will practice writing the letters A through D.
Lesson 4
Reading
Find your favorite book and read it with someone in your house.
 Week 2
Lesson 5
Reading
We will practice reading sight words.
Lesson 6
English
We will work with beginning sounds of words.
Lesson 7
Reading and Geography
We will learn geography through animals and then we will read a story together.
Lesson 8
SEL and Science/Math
We will discuss the importance of alone time. Then we will investigate the properties of strawberries through taste tests.
Lesson 9
Writing and Music
We will practice writing the letters E through H. Then we will discuss the violin.
 Week 3
Lesson 10
Reading and Writing
We will practice reading and writing sight words. Then we will work with beginning sounds.
Lesson 11
Science and Math
We will investigate different substances through our sense of smell. Then we will practice addition.
Lesson 12
SEL and Writing
We will discuss the importance of positive affirmations. Then we will practice writing the letters I thought L.
Lesson 13
PE and Geography
We will play exercise dice to get our bodies moving. Then we will learn about North and South America through animals.
 Week 4
Lesson 14
Geography and PE
We will learn about Antarctica and Australia through animals. Then we will have a dance party together.
Lesson 15
Science and SEL
We will investigate and learn about the parts of a flower. Then we will discuss friendships and sharing.
Lesson 16
Writing
We will practice writing the letters M through P.
Lesson 17
Reading
We will practice reading sight words and then read a story together. We will also learn about vowel sounds.
 Week 5
Lesson 18
PE and Writing
We will practice balancing, learn a song, and do yoga together. Then we will practice writing the letters Q through T.
Lesson 19
Reading
We will practice reading sight words and then read a story together. We will also discuss vowel sounds.
Lesson 20
Science
We will be investigating the properties of crackers through our senses.
Lesson 21
Geography
We will learn about the United States and Canada through the foods you can find in each place.
 Week 6
Lesson 22
Reading
We will practice reading sight words and CVC words.
Lesson 23
Writing
We will practice writing the letters U through X. Then we will tell and illustrate our owwee stories.
Lesson 24
Science and Math
We will investigate force through a fun activity. Then we will practice simple addition and subtraction.
Lesson 25
Geography and PE
We will explore Scotland and Ireland through animals and items found in both countries. Then we will have a dance party to get our bodies moving.
 Week 7
Lesson 26
Writing and Reading
We will practice writing the letters Y and Z. Then we will read and write rhyming words.
Lesson 27
Science
We are going to be investigating how non-living things change through physical and chemical reactions.
Lesson 28
Reading
We will read and discuss a story.
Lesson 29
Geography and PE
We will explore and learn about the countries of Britain and France through landmarks and food. Then we will have a dance party and do yoga together.
 Week 8
Lesson 30
Writing
We will review all letters of the alphabet.
Lesson 31
Reading/Writing and Art
We are going to practice reading and writing CVCe words. Then we are going to use the colors of our emotions to paint a picture.
  • Students will be ready for 1st grade!
Teachers for this course have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience with this age group.

All supplies will be listed in the classroom before they are needed
This class involves movement/Science and scissors.  Students need water close by, a safe space to move around without getting hurt, comfortable clothes and shoes.  Students will need parental  supervision during all experiments.  We ask parent's to be close by and available at all times for your child.  Clay can contain wheat.  Please be aware of the ingredients in yours for allergy purposes.
We use curriculum of Wild and Unstructured Learning.
