Class Experience

The 1st Grade Orton-Gillingham series of classes can be taken throughout the year as a full reading curriculum. These classes are available at different times to accommodate varying schedules. They can be taken once a week, for four weeks, twice a week for two weeks or the class can be completed during one week on four consecutive days. Choose the option that best fits your learner's schedule!
Join us on for Part 1 of our reading adventure, where we will learn our short vowels, meet the digraph brothers Crazy Charlie /ch/, Quiet Shawn /sh/, Whistling Whit /wh/ and Impolite Theo /th/.
Part 1 We begin our lesson by working on phonemic awareness, sound/letter relationships, blending sounds to read words and identifying vowels.
Part 2 We are then introduced to a new concept, singing songs, brainstorming words and playing games.
Part 3 We will then identify phonemes/sounds in a decodable text, working on fluency and comprehension, reading and discussing the text together.

Day 1 - Digraph /ch/ Chuckling Charlie
Day 2 - Digraph /sh/ Quiet Shawn
Day 3- Digraph /wh/ Whistling Whit
Day 4 - Digraph /th/ Impolite Theo

These classes are for children in 1st through 2nd Grade, children that need supplemental reading support or are emerging readers.
