Class Experience

US Grade 1
Welcome to Singapore math 1b! This course is a semester long course for students in first grade math. Our course will cover a variety of math concepts listed by week below.
The course will be lecture based with high interaction between students/teacher and students/peers. We will use slides to cover the lecture/modeling of math topics each week. This will be followed by practice problems and homework instruction.

Students will have weekly homework to complete to stay on pace with the course.
Students are encouraged to ask questions, try practice problems, and contact the teacher even when the class does not meet if they need help or have questions.

Some course topics mention key multiplication phrases. It is important to note that this level of math is actually pre multiplication and pre dictions skills. Singapore math uses mental math skills heavily and prefer to spiral skills that will come later in a simplified form. So a definition of “multiplication to 40” is not memorizing times tables. This is actually simplified math to get students familiar and comfortable working with grouping and adding to 40.

Many concepts with ordinal numbers will have additional skill requirements such as identifying greater, less than, or equal to.

Students are encouraged to use the workbook Singapore math 1b to complete weekly homework assignments. Those with questions for their reviews on off days are invited to share their questions during the beginning of class with the teacher for help and further explanation. Students do not need to wait until class though and may contact the teacher any day for homework help.

Parents will have feedback about their students performance throughout the course.

Hello Friends,

I would like to welcome you to learning and growing through immersion in core subject areas. I specialize in Japanese, Korean, English Language Arts, American History, and Physics. Classes are always interactive and encourage participation, interaction, and hands on virtual components to keep learners engaged.

I am excited to teach your student and strive to make our lesson time valuable. I have put in extensive time creating all curriculum, activities, handouts, and course information to make the most of our class time!

My background includes studying at Charter Oak State College, earning a TESOL from Glasgow University, Scotland, UK, and earning extensive teaching certificates from the TEXAS A&M Extension Program. I have previously lived in Tokyo, Japan for four years. During that time I completed the Defense Language Institute Korean and Japanese Programs. I have also attended the Cyber Institute of Korea for Korean language studies, Hanyang University and Yonsei University (located in Korea) for additional Korean language courses of study. I enjoy furthering my experience and continue to take additional courses to increase my knowledge in several subject areas.

My experience includes teaching Japanese culture and language, Korean culture and language, and English as a second language. I have also taught core subjects through homeschool co-op classes with classrooms of up to 20 students.

I currently own and operate an online K-6 school called Noble Homeschool Academy where homeschoolers participate in core subjects as well as foreign language, art, music, and book club. I have been teaching for fourteen years and hope to enjoy many more years of teaching!

I have experience with students in grades K-8. Creating engaging curriculum will open the mind of any reluctant learner. I enjoy watching my students find a new interest and love of learning with every class.

My extensive online teaching experience allows your student to enjoy an interactive environment even though we are virtual! My journey as a military spouse has taken my all over the world and I enjoy inserting the knowledge and experiences into educational content that children may not get to otherwise experience. I understand the difficulties students face learning new and challenging content. I believe that my classes are light hearted and encouraging but packed full of substance!
