Class Experience
Use the common core to soar! In this ongoing course, learners will complete spiral activities of 1st grade grammar, vocabulary, reading & writing (aligned to Common Core) each week. A "spiral activity" means that the standards covered in each class remain the same, but the questions change. There will be high engagement and participation and NO boredom! Your learner will look forward to class each week! Your learner will become successful by both answering questions correctly and by making...
Learner will focus on the following: Conventions of Standard English • Upper and Lower case letters • End punctuation • Capitalize “1st word” and the pronoun “I”. • Use Question words. • Capitalize “names of people” and “dates”. Vocabulary Acquisition • Antonyms • Sort objects into categories. • Sort words into categories. • Use context clues to determine meaning. Writing • Write a sentence about the picture. Reading Foundations • Read high-frequency words. • Decode one-syllable words. (CVC – all vowel sounds)
Please have your learner bring a notebook, pencils, and erasers. It might be beneficial for them to keep a notebook they can continue their work in each week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
