I am a former elementary school classroom teacher who loves to teach math! I specialize in math at all levels, PK-middle school. My Outschool classroom is warm, friendly and engaging. I am respectful of each learner's comfort level and will gently encourage them to participate at their own pace. Some kids take longer to open up and join the conversation, and that's ok! We will start each class with an icebreaker, then learn a new concept, and then practice that concept as a group. In this...
This class is taught in English.
Students will become familiar with math concepts that are taught in first and second grade. We will learn about skip counting, more than/less than, money, time, shapes, symmetry, addition, subtraction, etc. This class is for all learners, whether you are homeschooling, or want to supplement what your 1st or 2nd grader is learning in school.
I am a former elementary classroom teacher who specializes in math. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, pre-k through 6, have taught math at all levels to many classrooms of children, and have also tutored many students one-on-one.
I will post homework pages that you can print out and work on at home. I don't expect learners to spend more than 15-30 minutes on homework outside of class per week. Homework is always optional.
Please have paper, pencil and crayons (or colored pencils) for weekly classes. I will sometimes send a note a few days before class requesting that you have some other manipulatives or supplies ready for our next class. I will make sure that it is always something that you can either find around your house, or easily at the store or Amazon for a small cost.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
