ATTENTION! Hal Leonard Guitar Method 1 book will need to be printed or be accessible from another tablet device other than the one being used for Zoom, ie iPad, Android tablet, etc. The book can also be purchased for about 10-20 dollars US. Please have this ready for the first lesson. It makes it difficult for us to juggle audio examples, me talking, them playing, seeing my hands, their little hands and then also screen sharing a book on a horizontal rectangular screen that makes the book...
First and foremost, how to have fun with the guitar! I love it and want to share my love of the guitar with them. In detail though; fretboard knowledge (how everything works and where all the notes are) scales (they make you solo better) chords (can't play in any band without them) theory (to understand the songs better and to eventually write your own)
Full Windows/Apple desktop/notebook and a separate inexpensive webcam and stand separate from the notebook/desktop is STRONGLY preferred. These days with Zoom music lessons devices go in order from best to worst listed below: Macbook/Mac (I have used both PC and Mac and I know personally that this is the best) Windows 10 PC (Does the job well too, Macs just offer a little more bells and whistles) iPad (latest generation, sound quality is poor do to lack of adjustments) iPhone (last 3 generations, but you can not see screenshares of music because it is too small, sound quality is poor due to lack of adjustments) Chromebook/Android Tablets (They do not have the adjustments to sound quality that the others do and wifi is weak in Chromebooks) Android phone (unacceptable for music lessons, has no sound features, very spotty internet, small screen) Electric Guitar: A functioning guitar that has been approved by me via Zoom or by a repairmen or fluent player in your area. I have run into alot of one stop shop guitars that simply don't work and then parents get frustrated as to why their child can't play it. An average electric pack that is ok, I.E. amp, guitar, picks, cord and strap, is about 250-300 Acoustic Guitar The same requirements as electric applies except only picks and guitar is needed. It is good to get a couple sets of extra strings as they do pop and is completely normal.
Hal Leonard Guitar Method Volume 1 I will provide all books and reference material other than the above mentioned book. Any individual songs that the student asks for that I don't have a copy of will be purchased through the parents.
