Description

Class Experience

In this class, I will demonstrate how to add numbers with a sum up to 10 using hands on manipulatives. We will practice our addition to review. I will them give them a basic story problem for us to work together. We will practice a few of these together. We will then create our own stories and answer math equations using the manipulatives. Children will interact with me by doing what I do with their own manipulatives. We will work together to find the answers to simple basic story problems....

The learner will add numbers up to 10.
The learner will solve story problems using manipulatives.
The learner will create their own story problem.

I graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and English. This means that I can teach all subject areas for elementary school. I have been teaching for 28 years. I love everything "school" for little ones. I am excited to teach this lesson because I learned the technique years ago in one of my college classes and I have been hooked ever since. Come join the fun!

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Learner progress will be assessed by the teacher as the learners work through the problems, answer questions, and create their own stories.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
