Personalized writing tutoring available from an experienced, credentialed teacher for learners at any level of writing.

Writing is a craft. All authors improve their writing through practice and coaching. Everyone can grow in this skill! Individualized writing coaching may include (but is not limited to):
- Narrative writing - what it is and how to compose
- Informative writing - what it is and how to compose
- Persuasive writing - what it is and how to compose
- Brainstorming
- How to plan and organize an essay or narrative piece
- How to use an outline to plan the draft
- Thesis writing for informative or persuasive writing
- Researching and keeping information organized
- Citations and keeping track of sources
- Understanding the difference between revising and editing
- Editing (including lessons on capitalization, punctuation, usage, sentence structure)
- How to revise to improve the content
- Composing paragraphs

Before we meet, I ask that the learner provide a writing sample (or samples) in the genre for which you are seeking coaching. This can be something they recently wrote, something they feel like writing, or, if needed, I can provide a prompt.

I meet learners where they are and work to help them get to their next level. I quickly build rapport with students and provide feedback that is positive and constructive. To help me meet your learner's needs and customize my lessons, please send a message to me ahead of time with the following information:
1. Grade level
2. What does your learner need to focus on (specific genre, specific skills)? This is something I will see when I receive a writing sample, but if you have specific concepts or skills that you want us to start with, please let me know.
3. Anything you know about your child as a learner (i.e. how do they learn best - visual, auditory, tactile; what does not work for your child).
4. What motivates your child? What are your child's interests (ex. baseball, animals, crafts)?

After the lesson, I will provide a recap, recommendations to help your child continue their progress, and additional resources to use if applicable. Additionally, I will ask the learner to complete specific writing tasks as homework practice to grow their skills.

If you do not see a time that works for you, please message me. I am happy to set up a class time that works for both of us!
