Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
Tap into hyper focus. Master writing traits for top scores through brief improvised writings. Learn and apply tips given from the writing coach to see growth in short bursts of writing.

Writing coaching is direct instruction to remove errors in writing as they are presented by the student during the free write portion of the class meeting. Teacher is knowledgeable in the area of writing and how to gain improvement quickly, as a result of that knowledge, teacher is free to select an area displayed in the student writing to deliver coaching. Teacher will send a snapshot photo of the writing produced by your student.

Class structure includes: brief welcome, topic given, free write, coach session #1, apply instruction, revised free write while applying teacher tips, acknowledge areas of growth (praise), answer student questions, warm goodbye.

Students will improve their understanding of the six writing traits and how these areas impact their writing: ideas, word choice, sentence fluency, organization, voice, and conventions.

Three sentences in length: the writing will be brief.

Teacher will view the student sample and identify the fastest area for improvement or the area with the largest need. Teacher will help students to apply laser focus and tips on how to integrate the tips into their writing.

Coaching will occur on whatever students are able to write during the free write time. Chat GPT will not be allowed. Therefore to make sure the student is able to produce original statements regarding comprehension during the time given, the teacher will type the student's ideas as they are given. No paper or pencil will be needed.

*Students will need to have their camera on and participate fully.
*I will keep note of which lesson your student has completed, in case a break is needed due to vacation or absence.
*This is not a lecture type of class. Students do need to participate fully.

Due to the nature of this course, a student should have at least a beginner level of English fluency.

The teacher's goal is for your student to read at the beginning college level by the time our lessons are complete. That is a large goal and dependent on the effort your student puts into class and how much they want to learn and grow.

This class can meet once per week as an on-going extra curricular class for your student. Teacher suggests no more than two coaching meetings per day and no more than four coaching lessons per week with a day in between meetings. If parent or student would like to complete two coaching meetings on the same day, teacher can adjust the class meeting times to reflect this.

Teacher has 50 lessons ready to go which are adapted to the individual needs of your student.
