In this 1:1 ongoing course, students can work on their creative writing skills by learning new ways to inspire themselves and improve their writing ability. The four main elements to creative writing are plot, characters, setting, and tone. We will learn and discuss the importance of these elements plus many more in this class. Also, your student will learn many different types of creative writing. Some examples include: poetry, play writing, fiction, songs, etc. We will use many writing prompts to encourage new and interesting ideas. This class is a great way for your student to gain inspiration and use new skills to enhance their stories. There will be many writing prompts, activities, and discussions during class. I encourage all of my students to participate in discussions and share their work during class, however, it is not required. Students may also just listen in class if they would like. In each class we will have time to write. This is an interactive class not just instructional. I am a firm believer that students learn best when they are having fun. I strive to create a classroom where your student can have fun while also learning something new. Students do not need any prior experience in creative writing to join this class.

I believe that children retain most information if they can connect to the material they are learning about. I strive to create a upbeat, fun classroom where all students feel excepted and free to express themselves. Learning can be fun when taught in creative and exciting ways.
