Students will learn the keyboard layout, correct keyboarding skills learning finger placement on the keys, through fun, engaging typing activities. We will be using abcya.com and other typing websites designed for children. We will discover through videos the history of the keyboard and review typewriters through history and how the keyboard was coined from the typewriter. Beginners will learn hunt & peck style typing to remember the keys, while the older students will type sentences and...
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
An account is not required for our typing activities and we use highly rated educational websites. Typingclub is used nationwide in schools to help our students learn typing, however, some of the younger students have not been introduced to it. I encourage starting typing lessons in Kindergarten, where some school settings begin their students on this website in the 2nd grade. This is a website where the students can work from home and upgrade their skills once they are introduced to it.
