Beginner Level
In the 5 day a week 1:1 private tutoring sessions, your child will work with an experienced educator to increase their reading foundations: rhyming, phonics, phonemic awareness, reading vocabulary, comprehension, fluency and expression and writing skills. The lessons will incorporate literacy as well as some drawing and writing. Your child will be engaged and actively involved throughout the lessons. If you would like me to incorporate math skills, or focus mainly on math foundational skills, let me know. I would love to work side by side with you to help move your child forward academically. I will message you after each lesson to monitor academic progress and growth. Please reach out to me if you would like a different time for me to meet with your child.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
