Description
Class Experience
These sessions can be customized based on the needs of your learner. A "pre-tutoring assessment" can take place or you can send me the goals they need to work on. The structure of the class will fluctuate slightly based on the topics we need but in general, I am a casual, discussion-based teacher. I give examples and support as needed but it is best if the student takes the class in a quiet environment so they can remain unmuted for full participation. Sessions can be for math, reading,...
Learning goals will be completely customized for each student.
I have 20 years of experience as a tutor, 6 years of experience as a classroom special education teacher & 5 years of experience as a homeschool mom. At the time of my graduation in 2009 I received a teaching certificate for elementary education & K-12 special education endorsed in cognitive & emotional impairments. I was deemed highly qualified to teach all content areas. The thing I love most about teaching & tutoring is working with a student who is having a hard time, they're starting to feel discouraged and not like school .... but as soon as they start to understand those hard things, they feel successful again, and their smile is priceless!
Homework to work on between sessions can be suggested, let me know if you'd like these suggestions.
Specific supplies may be recommended depending on the goals of the session. A student should always have something to write with, this can be a whiteboard/marker or pencil.
"Pre-Tutoring 1:1 Assessment" is a separate course that may be recommended before starting tutoring sessions if you don't know the learner's present level or goals to work on. Informal assessment reports can be given after tutoring sessions if you wish. If you'd like this please let me know at least 24 hours before the session. Additional assessments may be recommended once a month or as needed.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
