Homework
Homework will be assigned as needed but is mostly for enrichment.Assessment
The very first class is an assessment where we get to know each other and I test the skills of the student. I then use this information to custom make lessons for your student and their needs. When your student becomes a regular in tutoring - where I meet with them 1 or more times each week, I will perform formative assessments as needed to test for growth and see what needs to be changed to their lessons.Class Experience
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! This is a 1:1 tutoring class. Each class is specifically designed with your student in mind based on information you provide and the assessment given during the first class. Reading Grades Kindergarten - 5th I love helping students see their potential no matter where they are! Many times students lack confidence because they feel like they are lacking knowledge. My job is to show them how much they know and teach them more! 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing kids have "light bulb" moments with reading, decoding skills, comprehension, and writing. When the letters start making sense and words start sounding like words they know! As a young learner, I hated reading. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized I have ADHD and struggle in visual tracking - a highly needed skill in reading. Over the last 11 years I have researched the best practices for learning reading and implement them into my classes. Students who are struggling with reading in early elementary typically grow to hate reading and even hate learning. Struggling in reading can quickly become a social issue for students as well as they get older. Too many times their confidence plummets as they realize they "can't read like their peers". It will be my goal as their tutor to reignite their love for learning by assessing where they are and giving them strategies that work for them. I will craft lessons to meet their needs in an engaging way! Learning should be fun**! 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 The best way for tutoring to work is for me to spend the first session getting to know the student and their abilities, giving them a very short lesson towards the end of the first tutoring session. Then using that information, I would craft the next lesson to dive deeper into what they are needed help with. Students benefit from having more than 1 session with a tutoring teacher. With this being said, if you schedule the second tutoring session at the same time as the first session, then you will receive 25% off of the second session. Please message me to get the coupon for these discounts!* These discounts are only available for those signing up for reading tutoring the first time. If you choose to only schedule 1 tutoring session, that is GREAT too! Students will still benefit from a tutoring time. 𝙈𝙮 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨: 10:00am - 5:00pm CST Due to the nature of the demand of this class, if you ask me to reserve a certain time for you, I will only hold that spot for 1 week. Unless otherwise discussed between us, if spot is not claimed within a week of me sending the link to you, that class spot will go public for anyone to book. *I am not responsible for discounts if I'm not contacted about the coupon. **Class time can also be shortened to meet the needs of neurodiverse students.
