Did you know reading fluency has a huge impact on reading comprehension? Children with high reading fluency rates read more and remember more of what they've read. In our sessions, students will build their reading fluency & comprehension.

Class Experience

Students will improve their ability to read aloud diverse text fluently and comprehend the message or major points after reading.
In my 5+ years as an educator, I’ve supported students across many grades and ages with the reading comprehension of various texts by modeling fluent reading. Students have engaged in silent reading, group reading, and reading aloud as part of the ELA curriculum across grade levels. I’ve employed researched-based strategies by experts and district curriculums, that are a part of the ELA common core state standards, that boosted students' comfortability with choral reading and echo reading.

I also hold a masters degree in education and have received ongoing professional development in the subject of ELA and pedagogy. I’m NYS certified to teach middle school and high school. I’m also a mother to a child attending elementary school and have volunteered at her school to support students with reading stories aloud.

Additionally, I hold a certificate with the National Tutoring Certification (NTA).
Reading diverse forms of texts fluently requires practice. Students may receive homework as needed after tutoring sessions or by parent request.
Students will receive a written report of their progress aligned to their education plan after tutoring sessions.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Learners must be enrolled and complete the "1:1 Tutor Consultation: Where Do We Begin?" before registering for the Read Aloud & Fluency tutoring services. Unfortunately, without the consultation, we'd be unable to move forward with tutoring.
