Do you have a child that is participating in speech competitions, debates, or pageants? This is a chance to get one-on-one guidance and support from award-winning competitors and coaches. Each tutoring session is tailored to your request. This can include preparing for an upcoming debate, writing a speech, presentation practice, and more. This flexible one-on-one class is designed to allow your student to work on whatever they feel they need improvement: or we can design a specific curriculum with help from you and your student to help them become the best version of themselves. This can be a one-time class or an ongoing class. About Our Tutors: - Bill Thompson: Bill has coached and instructed speech and debate for more than 30 years with a variety of University, high school, & middle school programs around the country. In the last decade, he has coached 7 high school national finalists and 11 middle school national finalists. He has coached 5 high school national champions and 3 middle school national champions in his career. Bill has an extensive history of building curriculum to teach speech and debate in both intensive speech and debate camp and classroom settings. Central to his curriculum is a focus on helping learners find their voices and helping them develop skills that allow them to hear and appreciate others voices. His classes are designed to meet learners where they are and develop their research, refutation, speech writing, speaking and overall rhetorical skills. - Coach Ben Coach Ben has taught Speech & Debate professionally for over a decade to students ranging from 4th grade all the way through college. Whether your student is brand new or experienced, Ben has mastered the art of turning anyone into a Rockstar Speaker. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Ben’s classes are tailored to an individual’s needs and progress. Ben can help with learning how to speak with confidence and clarity, how to perfect the art of argumentation, how to research and write more effectively, and more! With enough time, every student can become an elite debater and public speaker. Some of the accomplishments of Ben’s students include earning 1st Place at: Middle School Tournament of Champions, High School Tournament of Champions (x2), Harvard University (x3), Stanford University (x2), Princeton University (x4), Columbia University (x3), Yale University (x2), Georgetown University (x6), and more.

Hello! I'm Elizabeth Green, founder of Green Communications and My Speech and Debate Coach.
I'm honored to lead a small group of teachers with a passion for helping kids learn how to communicate confidently and effectively in public speaking situations.
We all have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a focus on communications (Broadcast Journalism, Theater, Public Relations, etc). We have won numerous awards, competitions and national titles in public speaking and debate.
But most importantly, we know how it feels to be uncomfortable in a public speaking situation, and the importance of overcoming that. We all went through shy stages as children until we had that ONE teacher who impacted us in a way that propelled us to self-confidence, public speaking competitions, and even careers in communications!
Whether it's having the courage to stand up and spell an unknown word in a spelling bee, write and/or deliver compelling lines from a play, craft an effective impromptu speech, or seal the deal in a debate tournament with a persuasive closing round, our goal is to BE that teacher for your child.
And, have a lot of fun in the process. :)
