1:1 Tutoring: Learn to Love Language Arts!

In these ongoing individualized classes learners can receive help with reading, writing, speaking, grammar and vocabulary in a supportive, friendly environment. During our first class meeting we will complete some activities that will help me assess your student’s needs and get to know more about their interests. I also welcome any information from parents about the learner’s educational goals. I will create lessons tailored to your learner’s individual needs and interests. I aim to make all of my classes fun and conversational in order to foster a lifetime love for Language Arts! 

Whether your learner has specific educational goals, or they simply want to explore a specific aspect of Language Arts more in depth, our classes will engage them in authentic tasks that foster confidence in their skills. 

For beginning or struggling readers, including learners with dyslexia, I use a systematic structured literacy/Orton Gillingham approach that is backed by the Science of Reading and proven to help with both reading and spelling.

Phonics, decoding and sight words
Reading fluency and comprehension 
Spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
Grammar and language usage
Sentence formation
Paragraph writing
Essay writing (narrative, persuasive, informational)
Creative writing

CANCELATION POLICIES
Please note that ongoing classes are charged weekly on Sundays. If you need to cancel a class, you will not be charged as long as I am given at least one week's notice.
- In the case of an emergency, I can refund a class one time within a 3 month period with less than one week's notice. 
- If you need to miss two or more consecutive classes, you can pause your subscription using the Pause Subscription feature on the class page, however I cannot guarantee that your time slot will still be available as I need to open it up for enrollment. 
- For holidays, please let me know one week in advance if you will need to miss class and you will not be charged.
