1:1 Tutoring in Reading: Phonics, Sight Words and Comprehension Skills

-Practice the strategy that was taught. -I’ll upload an activity packet for the class and the student can finish any activity in the packet. (optional) -Depending on the student and if it is necessary, I may suggest or provide extra activities/worksheets for the student to practice the skill. I will follow up with the parent if needed.
Assessment
Informal assessment (Optional) If the parent chooses, I can use the first class to perform a letter/sound, phonics and sight word assessment of their child. This assessment can gives me a baseline of what their child knows and doesn't knows. Using that data, I can create lessons that will help support their child's need.

Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
In this multi-day (4-weeks) course, your learner will receive a customized reading class which is based on your learner’s needed area/s of support from a certified teacher. 
This class is great for homeschool or after school. 

***I do offer an ongoing tutoring class that is identical to this class. See link below. 

There will be three main topics that I can assist your learners reading need: 
1) Letter/sounds and phonics skills
2) Sight word fluency 
3) Comprehension skills

Some examples of skills can include: 
-letters/sound identification
- CVC words
-blends
-digraphs
-y as a vowel
-open/closed syllables
 -silent e
-prefix/suffix
-vowel teams
-R-controlled
-soft/hard c/g
-multisyllabic words-compound words, VCCV, V/CV, VC/C patterns
-word work to build sight word fluency
-comprehension skills-retelling, story elements, main idea and key details.

This is a multi-day course. While we meet weekly, the topic will be based on your learner's individual need. These are the skills that can be addressed in your learner's classes:
1- Letter/Sound
2- Phonics skills
3- Sight Word Fluency
4- Comprehension Skills

After enrolling in this class, I will message the learner’s parent to get information on what your learner needs help in reading. 

After receiving the information about your learner, I will create a curriculum to support the specific area of need.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
The lessons will be created on Google Jamboard in which I will share my screen with the learners. The learners won't need an account to engage in the lessons.
Supply List
I will upload an activity packet that goes along with the class (if needed). 

Depending on the learner and the reading skill:
Paper, coloring paper, dry erase board
Pencils, crayons, dry erase board markers
*Prior to class beginning I will inform the parent of the necessary learning supplies needed for the tutoring session. 
When we use a graphic organizer in class, I would suggest using sheet protectors because it would be easier for your child to write and erase using dry eraser marker instead of having to print multiple copies of the graphic organizer or any worksheets. 

***If you don’t have assess to a printer then your learner can use their own notebook, loose paper, dry erase board with dry erase markers.
