The modules/ lessons aim:

to help students develop their knowledge and understanding of events, periods of history, and key leadership in order to assess its impact on modern society; to engage students in historical enquiry, exercise critical thinking, and develop the ability to ask pertinent and relevant questions about the past and its impact on the world; to help students formulate well-substantiated arguments and effectively communicate their historical knowledge, understanding and conclusions.

to help students become more geoliterate, more engaged in contemporary global issues, and more informed about multicultural viewpoints. They will develop skills in approaching problems geographically, using maps and geospatial technologies, thinking critically about texts and graphic images, interpreting cultural landscapes, and applying geographic concepts such as scale, region, diffusion, interdependence, and spatial interaction, among others.

UPDATE: 2022-2023 EXAM RESULTS - all my students gained 1 or 2 more grades higher than they were expecting at GCSE/ IGCSE and A Levels for History and Geography! One of them has been awarded the Outstanding Cambridge Learner High Achievement Award for A-Level History for the Nov 2022 exam and a few students got higher scores in the 2023 May/ June exams!

Hi, I’m Johnette and I have over ten years of teaching experience in bilingual, state, and international schools. I've taught KS3 - A levels History and Geography,  Humanities, and English as a Foreign Language in the classroom and online settings. I used to work in a secondary school in England and have a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service). I’m also a CIE History Assessment Specialist/ Assistant Examiner. I have professional development certifications in teaching CIE IGCSE, AS and A-Levels History.

I have a proven track record including helping my students achieve the highest marks for Cambridge International Examinations IGCSE History in the whole of China (in the June 2010 and June 2016 examinations).

I enjoy teaching students of different ability levels, cultures, and backgrounds and try to make lessons interesting for all my students. I also like to help students achieve their full academic potential and get them inspired about the world around them.

Homework Offered
Homework is optional but students are encouraged to do independent research about the historical and geographical content topics.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses School History, YouTube, BBC Bitesize, Pre- AP  and AP History/ Geography curriculum from College Board.
