I am Teacher Maggie, director of Education at Strongminds for Kids and I am a licensed Reading Specialist and experienced with Orton-Gillingham, Barton, and EBLI reading interventions! Over my years of serving students I have developed my own program that utilizes many procedures from these science based programs. The Strongminds methods are made to be effective meeting the student where they are at, identifying their individual needs, and putting together a program that will provide the maximum growth. Strongminds teachers provide 1:1 online tutoring services to children PreK-12th grade who need support or enrichment in literacy. Our individual lessons are engaging, multi-sensory, effective, and fun! A student who is struggling to read is suffering more than you could possibly realize. There is a deep shame that comes with struggling to read as a young student. As a dyslexic myself I know this wrenching feeling all too well. Our sessions are intended to encourage a student to feel good about mistakes and become comfortable with struggle. These are the true opportunities to learn and grow. Whether the struggle is with decoding words, skipping words, or guessing words based on the first letter, we have positive, fun strategies that will help a student overcome these pit falls. The ultimate goal it to help our students fall in love with reading as we work towards reading great high interest texts they can't get enough of. The first two sessions will be utilized to get to know your child's individual strengths and weaknesses. A complete personalized reading assessment will be administered to target exactly what they need to work on during these sessions. These individual tutoring sessions will be specifically designed to meet the needs of your learner. Students will be continually assessed to insure each lesson is targeted towards their own area of need. Scheduling Sections: We will continue to add more dates and times, but send a message if there is a date and time that works best.
