It's not uncommon for parents to feel unqualified and overwhelmed when trying to assist with homework, especially writing. But it's not your fault. Sometimes teacher comments are unclear and English may not be your first language. Each group homework session is designed to help your student understand their homework assignment and get assistance. Topics I specialize in are: 5 Paragraph Essay Writing for Elementary - College (Personal Narrative, Descriptive Writing, Expository, Opinion, and Persuasive) Strong sentence structure and Paragraph Writing Creative Writing and Poetry Descriptive Writing Novel and Short Story Grammar & ELA State Exam Tests As this is a group homework help class, I'm aware that each student may have different needs. However, if I see a common theme in their writing that needs to be addressed, I will spend 5-10 minutes teaching through engaging slide presentations and supplemental videos. After instruction, students will be put in breakout rooms where I can give them individual attention. It is important that students upload their writing homework they need to work on at least a day before our session, so I have time to prepare. If you want private tutoring, please see my 1:1 tutoring sessions. Please inquire if you have specific questions.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Oral Roberts University
My love of writing started when I was 8 years old and hasn't stopped.
I'm a published author, writing teacher, and tutor who's worked with gifted and struggling kids for over 20 years. I saw a gap and a need when it came to essay and writing creative writing, so from my knowledge as a published writer in fiction and nonfiction magazine writing, I developed fun programs to engage learners to write powerfully and effectively. The techniques seemed to work with kids who loved writing as well as those who didn't. I'm excited to bring my programs online to an even bigger audience.
What parents and other teachers are saying:
"Gina draws out the writer hiding within you... no matter how deep down that writer is buried within. I highly recommend Gina as writing instructor." Ronee, mom of reluctant teen writer
Gina is a phenomenal writing teacher! We have loved working with her. We have a range of ages and she is great at adapting to their ages and learning styles. She's very patient and good at helping them focus. My kids have learned so much and been stretched and challenged in the area of writing. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to advance in any area of writing! - Bethany mother of K, 1, 3, 4 tutored students.
"All writers, regardless of their age or level, need to understand the nuances of story, the layers of a character, how to put a scene together as well as how to wordsmith their stories. Enter Gina Conroy's terrifically fun and creative course for teens-Release the Novel in You! From its engaging and fun presentation, delightful acronyms, playful look at analyzing a story and application sections, it takes the rules out writing and turns it back into what it should be—fun! Practical and specific, it covers everything from story structure to characterization, to the hero's journey to writing fixes—everything an intermediate writer needs to take their story from an idea on the page to a novel." - Susan May Warren, Award-winning novelist and writing coach
