Class Experience
Welcome to this 1:1 mentoring class that goes beyond traditional academics to address critical life skills that every teenager needs to master before becoming an adult! This is a course for teenagers eager to learn and for parents who want to ensure their children are prepared for life beyond school. Trust me, I am currently watching my two young adult children (ages 22 & 20) navigate adult life, and making sure they were prepared for what's ahead was super important to me (and to them) to set them up for success :) In this customized, one-on-one class, we will delve into a wide array of skills and topics often overlooked in regular curricula but are absolutely vital to living a balanced, successful adult life. My aim is to help your teen transition into adulthood with confidence, resilience, and the tools necessary to navigate the journey ahead. Topics We Can Cover: *since this is an individualized class, please let me know if there are specific topics you want covered! Financial Literacy - Understanding money, budgeting, banking, reading pay stubs, loans, taxes, credit scores, and saving for the future. A critical skillset for anyone who wants to be independent and in control of their own financial wellbeing. Job and Career Prep - Crafting a resume, job searching strategies, preparing for job interviews, and understanding workplace expectations. Life Skills - Home management basics like shopping for an apartment and learning what you can afford, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and basic home maintenance, plus important soft skills such as time management, problem-solving, and self-care. Digital Citizenship - Navigating the digital world responsibly, protecting one's online identity, privacy, and understanding the influence of social media. Health & Wellness - Basic nutrition, fitness, mental health awareness, stress management techniques, and importance of regular health check-ups. Civic Responsibility - Understanding rights and responsibilities, basic laws, voting, and community involvement. Communication & Relationships - Effective communication, conflict resolution, respect for diversity, empathy, and maintaining healthy relationships. ...and so much more! Each session is personalized, ensuring your teen gets the right balance of practical knowledge and emotional intelligence. We will leverage interactive activities, real-world simulations, open discussions, and reflection exercises, creating an engaging, empowering environment that prepares your teen for the realities of adulthood. This is more than just a course; it's an investment in your teen's future. By equipping them with these essential life skills, we will be setting them up for success in their personal and professional lives, encouraging them to be responsible, confident, and self-sufficient adults. Let's ensure your teen is ready for reality and prepared to face the challenges of adulthood with resilience and confidence!
