Class Experience
Whether you have been assigned a middle-grade novel for 6th grade ELA or a college-level text for AP Lit--or whether you are reading for fun!-- this class is for student support, guidance, and accountability in grades 6-12. Session 1: Introductory session to discuss your summer reading goals: -- What book you have been assigned or have chosen to read -- How much you need to/want to read of your book before the end of the summer -- What challenges you sometimes/often encounter when reading -- How we can develop a plan to help you meet your goal (e.g. create a reading schedule) Sessions 2 and beyond: Teacher/Student discussion of the book -- Your thoughts at this point in your reading -- Any connections you have made -- Questions about the book/chapters/passages -- Teacher provided slides, clips, and other secondary sources to help aid in understanding **Enrollment guarantee that the teacher has read the assigned book OR, if the teacher has not previously read the book, will read the assigned book ahead of the student

Student will supply the assigned/chosen book for his/her/their own use.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
