Description
Class Experience
This is a 1:1 class learning to play piano in a hybrid way. This is a traditional class but using some new ways of learning. We will follow a book called Wunderkeys Pop Staff Piano. New concepts will be introduced each week. Students are expected to practice approximately 15-30 minutes each week to make sure that the concepts are mastered. This is a hybrid book using pedagogically appropriate piano pieces mixed in with technical exercises and supplementary activities. We will use something...
The following goals and outline will be covered each week and each lesson progressing with the speed of the learning. First lesson will be the basics and student will learn the pop chord C, then the Pop Chord F and the Pop Chord G. Student will then start practicing hands playing together. Unit 1: The Pop Staff and the RH C 5 Finger Scale Student will learn the RH C 5 Finger Scale, the student will learn technical exercises and will practice note reading, and note writing and learning rhythms. Student will have chances to improvise. Then we will level up and student will learn octaves Unit 2: The POP Staff and Playing in 3/4 Time Student will practice playing in 3/4 time and working with 3/4 rhythm. Student will do technical drills, note reading and improvisation. Student will level up learning D minor chord. Student will practice reading and writing notes. Unit 3 The Pop Staff, The Bass Staff and The C 5 Finger Scales Student will learn the Left hand C 5 Finger Scale Student will learning technical exercises and sight reading. Student will practice note reading and note writing. Student will then level up with quarter rests and more technical exercises.

Homework will be to practice skills learned in class and to practice playing songs we go over.
