Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
This ongoing preschool class is a Circle Time and play-based class, with emphasis on language and social skills. Each week, we will learn about a new theme.

**This class is intended to be a 1:1 class, similar to private tutoring. Because of this, lessons can focus on the specific areas your specific child needs support with. Each class will follow a given theme, but I will modify the lesson content based on your learner and your family's needs and requests.

**If you are interested in this class, please message me with your preferred days and times. We will work together to schedule a time for this class! Please also mention any specific areas you would like us to focus on within each session. This may be: increasing overall language skills, letter/sound awareness, rhyming, conversation skills, children learning English as a second language (ESL), or any other area you would like 1:1 support in.

**This class is designed for TUTORING only. This is not considered to be speech and language therapy.**

Classroom routines may include the following activities. Please note that activities may be modified based on your child's specific need.

*Hello: Each learner will get to practice introducing themselves and sharing their feeling each day. I understand that some young learners may not feel comfortable speaking up in class right away - this is okay too!

*Calendar Time: We will sing the Days of the Week song and talk about what day it is (if learners are ready and/or if time allows, we can also practice temporal concepts such as "tomorrow" and "yesterday").

*Letter of the Week: Each week we will learn about a new letter and its corresponding sound. We will brainstorm items that begin with each letter. Learners are welcome to bring their own item for each letter to share with the class (e.g.: they may bring a toy apple if we are learning about "A").

*Color of the week: Each week will learn a new color. Learners will be encouraged to find that color around the room and share it with the class.

*Theme Based Song: Singing and movement during each song is encouraged :)

*Theme Based Book: Each week we will read a different book about our weekly theme

*Show N Tell: Learners are encouraged to bring an item relating to our weekly theme to share with the class. Depending on each learner's specific level, they may practice: showing their item to the camera, describing their item, telling why they like their item, giving compliments to peers about their items, etc.

*Additional activities and routines may be added based on your child's specific needs or interests. This may include: articulation skills (pronunciation), a variety of expressive or receptive language skills (using and understanding language concepts), spelling and writing skills, rhyming skills, fine motor activities, movement, play skills, and parent training time (e.g.: I will walk you how to incorporate certain routines and skills at home).

**If you have a scheduled class that needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, please contact me more than 24 hours before the scheduled class time. I am happy to reschedule classes as long as I know in advance. Missed classes or cancelled classes within 24 hours are not entitled to a refund outside of emergency situations.**

If you have any questions, please reach out! I am excited to see you in class! ~Ms. Liz

Hello! My name is Liz Balettie! I am a certified Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) with 10 years of experience. I earned my Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology in 2014. I have worked in a variety of settings, teaching speech and language skills in: public and private schools, private practice, tele-health (during the pandemic), and hospitals. I am a huge fan of play-based learning! Play and language skills are absolutely related! All of my classes include music/singing, play, and movement to ensure learners are having FUN while they are learning! My classes will ALWAYS be inclusive. I adapt the lesson based on the students in each specific class. I will meet each child at their level!

I offer a variety of classes for young learners. Each class will contain elements of early language skills, pre-literacy skills, and social skills geared towards young learners.

I have a husband, dog, toddler daughter, and 7 year old son. I enjoy baking, yoga, and running.

Please reach out with any questions your may have! I am so excited to meet your child in my virtual classroom! :)
