Class Experience
I am a veteran high school teacher with ten years of teaching experience and over ten years of tutoring experience. I have taught and tutored a variety of levels of Spanish including: Spanish 1 Spanish 2 Spanish 3 Spanish 4 Spanish Immersion Possible topics can include vocabulary pronunciation and practice, verb conjugations, grammar concepts such as ser vs estar and preterite vs imperfect. My teaching style is energetic and encouraging. I use illustrations, mnemonic devices, and songs to help students grasp difficult concepts. The session format can be determined by the parent and learner. I can provide practice or conversation topics to work through with the learner, or I can assist with specific activities, topics, or assignments. My name is Hilaire, and I am a High School Chemistry teacher. Well, by title only. I have been teaching for 10 years and have taught a variety of subjects: Spanish, Biology, ESL, Chemistry, Physical Science, and Math. I also have tutored a variety of subjects for over 10 years. I am also National Board Certified.
In my classes, my philosophy is to get students interested in the topic and make it fun! Students are much more invested when they enjoy the class.
In my spare time I enjoy running, reading, and spending time with my family.
