Homework
1 hour per week. Homework will be to practice reading the story that was read during the lesson. Optional homework will be to play the word game provided.Assessment

US Grade Kindergarten - 4
Students will learn to read and spell using systematic, explicit phonics instruction. Students will be assessed to determine a starting point for instruction so topics will vary. A beginning reader will learn letters and sounds, how to combine sounds to read and spell CVC words. More advanced students will learn to read and spell words with long vowels, suffixes, and multisyllabic words. Each lesson will include a warm-up, a new concept introduction or a new concept review, and various activities to practice reading and spelling words in isolation and in connected text (sentences and stories). Students will also learn to read and spell irregular words. When time allows, we will also play word games for practice and fun!

Learning Needs
Tutoring sessions will support students with Dyslexia and other reading/spelling difficulties. Students will be assessed to determine skill level and need. A personalized plan of instruction will be developed based on the assessment.
Supply List
Students will need a dry erase marker and eraser (a piece of felt/tissue/paper towel, etc could be used as an eraser) and a sheet protector to use as a whiteboard. If you prefer, you could purchase a dry erase board with lines such as this one: https://a.co/d/3noDKXT

I have been teaching reading and spelling for the past 29 years in a public school setting as well as privately as a tutor. I have taught third grade, kindergarten, and I am currently working as a reading specialist teaching struggling readers. I have state certification as an elementary school teacher and a remedial reading teacher. I am also a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner.
