A phonics screener will be given and a fluency test to determine your child's specific skill needs. Feedback will be provided to you after the session. —————————————————— This is a one on one tutoring session for any student needing assistance with reading. Students can be below level, on level, or above level. After completing a formal phonics assessment, each session will be tailored to the student's individual literacy needs. We will work through a phonemic awareness and phonics scope and sequence. These skills will be learned by playing games, research based literacy activities, and be as hands-on as possible. Comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, and fluency will also be woven into each lesson. Decodable text will be assigned each week so students may work on their needed skills when not in tutoring. This will help them master their skills. Instruction is constantly modified or changed based on student need. I’m a certified Reading Specialist and early childhood education teacher who has taught for 15 years. I also have a background in special education. I now run a private reading tutoring business from my home. I teach students in person and virtually. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
