In this fifth grade 1:1 class we focus on student reading skills by starting where they are and adjusting learning to their needs. We do this through fun and interactive stories and writing prompts.

A fun way to help your kids reading and comprehension is to give them interesting subjects to read about. Students will read 3 fun short stories from topics in science and history. This helps students learn to love reading, all the while they are practicing and building their skills. This 1:1 class will provide your student an opportunity to read aloud in class, allowing the teacher to help them as needed. Students will answer 5 comprehension questions about the story they read. I am a veteran homeschool mom of 20+ years. I have a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology. In my years of experience I have taught kids reading through personalized help mostly on a 1 on 1 basis customized to what best fits their learning style. I believe not all kids fit in one mold and different approaches need to be made to help each student move forward and succeed in their education.
Homework Offered
Students will complete any writing out side of class that they did not finish in class, and bring back the following week for feedback from the teacher.Assessments Offered

In class, students will play an interactive game on nearpod.com. Students do not need an account or email to access the game. A link and code will be provided in class. Students will need paper and pencil, or a document on their computer to write and answer the essay portion of the class.
