Homework
1 hour per week. I reccomend students practice every day. For beginners, that can look like 10 minutes a day. For intermediate violinists, that can look like 30 min plus. Practicing is a topic we will discuss in the lessons. It does not always have to be with your instrument.

Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learning to play the violin provides many benefits, including a deeper appreciation of music and a chance for creative expression. I offer personalized lessons for students ranging from beginners to intermediate players.

For beginners, we will cover the basics of the violin, including its parts, note reading, rhythm, and playing simple songs. I use the Suzuki method for young learners, which incorporates familiar tunes to make learning enjoyable and effective.

For intermediate players, I will use a range of techniques to refine their skills, improve tone quality, work on musicality, and address more complex aspects of violin playing. We can also work on specific pieces you’re studying in school or preparing for auditions for regional or all-state orchestras.

Students will need a violin, shoulder rest, and bow for their lessons. If you’re a beginner and don’t yet have an instrument, I can still introduce you to music fundamentals like note reading and rhythms while you find a suitable violin.

Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to miss a lesson. Without prior notice, you will be charged for the missed lesson and will not be eligible for a makeup session. I am happy to reschedule a lesson with 24 hour advance notice.
