**If you don't see a time that works for you, please send me a message and we will work out a time together that fits your family's schedule. I do not teach between the hours of 10pm-5am CDT (GMT-5, DST) nor on Saturdays/Sunday (in the U.S.A.). In this class, I will help your student become more familiar with your family's choice of Shakespeare's play. We will focus on: - plot comprehension - character growth and relations - themes and motifs - setting and stage direction importance -...
Students will be able to comprehend the plot of Shakespeare's plays. Students will be able to analyze the setting, background influence, character growth, themes and motifs of Shakespeare's plays.
I am a licensed ELA teacher and have taught in U.S. public and charter schools for two years. I taught Shakespearean plays to students as young as 7th grade (the charter school I worked at started Shakespeare as part of the curriculum in 5th grade with a reading of and class performance of Julius Caesar). I love Shakespearean plays and even took a specific course on his works at Brigham Young University during my undergrad and even had to create an extra scene in the style of Shakespeare for one of his plays.
Please bring pencils, paper, a copy of the assigned play, and any other school-work related items you need to study Shakespeare's plays.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Depending on the topics and content the learner and their parents are wanting me to cover, we might utilize sources such as Nearpod, Kahoot, and the Smithsonian Institute websites. Shakespeare also does have some swearing and mature language in some of his plays, as well as sexual innuendos. (I don't plan on focusing on those aspects, but Shakespeare, by nature, is definitely PG-13).
If there is a preferred (or other teacher required) version of the Shakespearean play, we will use that version. Otherwise, let me know and we can decide together which version will best be suited based on age and comprehension level.
***I am currently not doing any LIVE or FLEX classes.*** I have a Bachelor of Arts in History Teaching and a Minor in English Teaching. I have a U.S. state license to teach all classes that fall under the category of history and English/Language...
