🔓 Unlock Your Child's Potential with Personalized Reading Instruction

Could your child benefit from individualized instruction from an experienced and caring certified teacher? If so, I would love to support your child's reading journey.

📔 Assessment and Tailored Instruction

In the first two sessions, I will conduct an initial assessment to establish a baseline for your learner. From there, instruction will be tailored specifically to their needs, covering content that requires review and new learning. My approach uses explicit, systematic, and sequential instruction to help students progress from simple to complex concepts and skills. Routine progress monitoring will allow us to make necessary adjustments and keep you informed about your child's progress.

💻 For K-2 learners, structured literacy lessons will include:

1. Phonological Awareness: Rhyme discrimination/production, blending syllables/phonemes, phoneme manipulation, sentence segmenting, auditory discrimination, phoneme isolation, and syllable and phoneme segmenting.
2. Sound Drill: Review of letters/sounds and/or the alphabet arc, depending on needs.
3. New Sound/Pattern Introduction: Explicit instruction of new sounds and patterns.
4. Reading at Word and Sentence Levels
5. Writing at Word and Sentence Levels

These phonics-based lessons also cover handwriting, vocabulary, sight words, and reading decodable passages.

📖 For 3rd and 4th grade learners, we will build on the foundational skills with:

1. Complex Spelling Patterns and Syllable Division
2. Morphology: Instruction on prefixes and suffixes.
3. Reading Longer Texts and Answering Text-Dependent Questions: Focused on comprehension strategies.
4. Writing for Various Purposes

💡Interactive and Engaging Lessons

Lessons will feature slide shows, manipulatives, and interactive games. In this 1:1 setting, students will be unmuted, able to control the screen, and annotate shared documents. Printable resources can be provided upon request.

🔑 Consistency is Key

For optimal results, students should plan to meet at least twice a week, with 3-4 sessions being ideal. If the available times do not suit your schedule, please contact me to arrange a better time.
