1:1 Private Reading and Writing Tutoring (60 Minutes)

In this 60 minute ongoing reading and writing tutoring class, learners will practice reading comprehension strategies and writing skills. I am familiar with ELA reading, writing, and language standards and can create lessons with targeted practice, homework, and feedback during the week as needed.

Reading and writing go hand in hand. It is important that learners are able to respond to reading through writing. I can work with your child with reading responses and composing essays using various modes of writing such as informative, opinion, persuasive, etc.  

Example Topics:
- close reading and annotating a text
- reading a passage and responding to it with a writing prompt 
- summarizing nonfiction and fiction texts using specific strategies
- identifying main idea and details using graphic organizers
- tracing the plot of a story using a graphic organizer and examining how plot, setting, and characters interact to reveal a theme

Tutoring sessions can be tailored to fit your child's needs and I can create classes that are based on 4th-7th ELA standards. I can also help with homework assignments as needed. Please let me know what your child needs so I can create appropriate and engaging sessions for your child.
