Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Beginner - Advanced Level
This is a 45 minute 1:1 private tutoring session with me, Abby RP, a passionate educator with 6+ years experience teaching and tutoring high school level Math. This course is designed to be a flexible review of any topics or material students may need help on in their Math classes. Students may request help with reviewing foundational concepts, preparing for upcoming tests, quizzes or exams, or looking ahead to what's coming up in their curriculum.

Topics may include:
- Algebra I (including Pre-Algebra): Arithmetic and order of operations, functions, solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing equation of lines, systems of equations, exponents, factoring, parabolas, and radicals.
- Geometry: Coordinate geometry, transformations and proofs, triangle congruence and similarity, right triangles and trigonometry, area & perimeter, conic sections, circles, and 3D geometric shapes (volume and surface area).
- Algebra II: Reviewing any Algebra I topics needed, including linear equations, systems, factoring, and radicals, then covering rational equations and expressions, sequences and series, polynomial division, imaginary numbers, graphing, and logarithms and exponentials.

During the session, I will assess what particular topic the learner needs the most help with at that time, review the concept, and guide them through as many practice problems as possible to maximize the time spent together. I will also work through any study guides or reviews given by their teacher to emphasize good test taking strategies for that particular assessment.

Students should come prepared with any materials or questions they may wish to cover and paper, pencils, and whatever calculator they use in their Math class.

At the end of the session, I may recommend further areas to review or practice problems to complete to solidify the content discussed in the session, to be reviewed at the next session. I believe that frequent meetings with consistent tutors are the key to gaining understanding and confidence in Math, so I recommend setting up weekly or bi-weekly sessions to establish a good rapport and ensure year-long success. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
