My name is Giulia and I teach Italian to kids, teens, and adults. I have experience teaching in private schools in Australia, Italy, as well as online. I hold a B.S. in Communication from Università Degli Studi di Siena, as well as CEDILS (Italian teaching certification.)
My approach to teaching adults is culture-centered. I believe that culture lives within language and vice versa. My lessons tend to incorporate dialogue, videos, songs, gestures, idioms, food, etc. This creates opportunities for students to discover a new language alongside its culture.
My approach teaching kids and teens is game-centered. I believe that above all, learning a language has to be fun. I like to include short stories, comics, songs, interactive games, quizzes, crosswords, audio tracks into my lessons. This allows students to become immersed in Italian while learning about the culture!
What got me into teaching was my experience in high school. I had always been a natural at clearly explaining difficult topics to my classmates. The fact that they would remember everything just by listening to me explain topics like Italian literature, made me realize that teaching is much more than just passing information. It is about creating connections.
A random fact about me is that I'm studying photography in Padova, and every Sunday I'm in Piazza San Marco (Venice) taking free photos for tourists. I'll meet you there if you're in Italy!
We'll be a great fit if you're curious about Italian culture, food, history, and architecture. Italy is much more than you may think. Are you ready to get started?
