Class Experience

Students will be able to understand events of history and its influences better.
I am a licensed History Teacher who graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in History Teaching. I have taught in U.S. public and charter schools for 3 years, as well as teaching numerous history-based classes on Outschool since 2020. I love geography and love collecting atlases. I believe that those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it.
I am currently attending the University of Kansas working on a MSE in Curriculum and Instruction.
Students will be required to incorporate what we have discussed into daily studying.
Please bring pencils, paper, and any other school-work related items you need to study history.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
If you are interested in any assessment, let me know and we can discuss that.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Depending on what period of history or specific concept your student is struggling with, there may be controversial issues, such as violence, racism, sexism, ableism, Anti-Semitism, and Civil Rights movements. All controversial issues will be handled with care in an age-appropriate way allowing the student to view the issue from multiple perspectives and various primary and secondary sources.
We may utilize history resources online such as the National Archives, Library of Congress, Smithsonian Institute websites, Google Earth, and OER Big History Project. Artwork, photos, and even documentaries may be used. If gamification helps your student learn, I can easily incorporate that into our lessons as well. None of these will require any login or personal information from the student. These will be screen shared from my own computer.
