Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each week, students will be expected to practice what we have learned in class. How much practice will depend on the students goals, and parents expectations. Short but consistent bouts of practice go a lot further than long but rare practice sessions, so adding practice into your daily/weekly routine is going to give the best results. This is where the biggest improvement will come in.Class Experience
1:1 guitar lessons are the perfect opportunity to work with each learner exactly where they are at. I am passionate about seeing students step into their talents and build skills that will help them develop as a guitar player, while most importantly, expressing themselves in their music. Whether you are starting off as a brand new guitar player, or you have been playing for a few years, I can meet you where you are at, and work with you to find your own style and build confidence in your playing. I shape every lesson based on each students own goals, which we can set together, to make sure you get coaching that best suits you. Here's what you might learn depending on what level you are at when you start. Brand new beginner: Guitar anatomy, how to properly hold the guitar, basic open chords, reading chord charts, reading TAB, 1-4 chord songs, basic strumming. Beginner (with little experience): Expand chord library, pentatonic scales, alternate picking, 4-6 chord songs, expand strumming patterns. Intermediate: CAGED system (chord voicing), bar chords (triads), finger picking, additional pentatonic scale voicings Advanced Intermediate: Modes of C (IDPLMAL), bar chords (sus2, sus4, 7th chords, 9th chords), intermediate finger picking, improvising I play and teach both electric and acoustic guitar, and focus primarily on contemporary, pop, singer-songwriter, and folk style. If you are looking for hard rock, or heavy metal, there are probably other teachers that would be a better fir for you.
