Class Experience

Intermediate Level
In this course, students will improve their speaking skills in preparation for the Cambridge PET exam. To do so, we may practice describing pictures, a key skill for the Cambridge exams and also our conversation skills. Activities are fun and practical to success on the exam.

Activities we may cover in class include:
1. Question wheels: This allows students to practice answering questions about themselves, their daily life and likes/dislikes.

2. Describing a picture: This allows students to describe something in detail for 1-2 minutes and to assess a picture fully.

3. Making a decision: This prepares students to look at a picture critically, respond to suggestions, and negotiate an agreement.

4. Expressing Opinions: This prepares students to have a conversation in English and to express their ideas.

What is your teaching approach?
My approach with learners is very patient and kind. I emphasize positive reinforcement as much as possible and let the students know that their hard work is paying off. Throughout the class, students receive lots of praise—words like "Good work! You're doing great! Excellent job!"—to keep them motivated and confident in their progress.

What is your expertise?
I have lots of experience teaching international students (Chinese, Russian, Korean) and have been doing so for the past six years. I've taught students between the age ranges of 3-13 in the past. ESL companies I have worked for include: Qkids and Bilingval. In total I've taught over 1000+ classes online. I also hold a 120 hour TESOL certification.
