1:1 Piano and/or Voice Lessons: Beginner to Advanced, Lisa-B.S. Music Education
Class experience
Learners can have a one on one private piano, voice lessons or a combo of both, with me for 30 minutes. Learners will need a piano keyboard of some type to practice on. I've made this a one day class ( to help lower the initial cost) so you will need to book each week with me, one lesson at a time. I’m not allowed to make this an ongoing class unless the content doesn’t build on itself. If you do not see a time that works best for you, then message me and I’ll see if there’s an opening...
Learners will learn to play the piano and/or sing proficiently.
I hold a B.S. in music education with a proficiency in piano and a secondary in voice from Bob Jones University. My teacher's, teacher's teacher was the piano instructor for the famous pianist Glenn Gould. I'm a "Master Teacher" at my local Music & Arts store, a teacher and a sub at an 80 year old music store, a teacher at a booming dance and music studio, as well as teaching in my home. I've been teaching since I was 16 years old and been playing the piano for 50 years. Currently, I've taught over 6,500 remote ESL lessons (with VIPKid) and other lessons here on Outschool in the past 4.5 years and have remained a 5 star teacher for the entire duration. My patients has absolutely no limits! 😉 I may green screen YouTube once in awhile, during the lessons, to have them listen to other pianists.

There should be and needs to be regular practice time each week for a pianist to progress. This will be different for various ages and levels.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

I'll need a photo of the current music your learner is working on for their first lesson with me. If taking regularly from me then we can decide on the appropriate method books together.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Parents, you'll need to purchase piano method books for your learner if they would like to have regular piano lessons with me. I do not make up the lessons as we go along. Please, let me know what level the pianist is before the lesson time. I may not have every method book but if they're planning to take lessons regularly with me then I'll purchase the same books. If you just take a photo of their current music then I can help them better during our first class. You may also need to assist with holding the camera so that I can see their hands periodically during lessons. I do suggest that your learner does regular practice time each week and depending on their age and level that will vary. That's something we can talk about further if you decide to book with me regularly. I will be screen sharing Youtube periodically with students to show them other pianists.
If you need help deciding what piano method books for your learner to use, then here are my suggestions. My number one choice that I love and adore is the FJH’s piano curriculum. This is what I use in my home piano studio with my current students. It needs to be ordered ahead of time though. 🔸I have my students choose: (1 or 2) “In Recital” books. There are several genres to choose from. (1) Write, Play and Hear Your Theory Everyday Book 1 Write, Play, and Hear Your Theory Every Day Book 1 (1) Sight Reading and Rhythm Everyday Book 1A Here's a link to see the books and you can also purchase them there. https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/account/music_lists_detail?editId=gl3723838731&activeNav=004&aff_id=750565 Alfred and Bastien method books are more easily available but my second choice for various reasons. However, all of these are fine and I’m more than happy to teach from all of these as well and pick up where your learner has left off. Just message me with your questions and which books you'll be using so I can make sure I have them on hand. I don't have every book in every method.
Nothing more rewarding, as an educator, than to see faces light up with joy after accomplishing something they thought was much too difficult to accomplish! Sometimes, a learner needs to be gently nudged beyond what they think they can do. Tears...
